Anti-Spam Feature

If you have received any unwanted “spam” account registrations to your e-Agents site, you may want to activate your Captcha!

e-Agents offers a feature that will limit, and hopefully eliminate, these pesky sign ups. However, these random, unwanted sign ups are only happening on a few accounts. The feature is disabled by default, and will need to be manually enabled in your account.

  1. Login to e-agents.com
  2. Click on “My Website”
  3. Click “Site Settings”
  4. Click “Lead Capture”
  5. Add the check mark for “Enable spam prevention”
  6. Click “Save”

How to Prevent eFlyers From Getting Spammed!

Unfortunately, there is no simple “fix” to avoid spam filters. The best thing we can do is to learn how spam filters work.

No matter how over zealous or annoying these filters have become, they all share one common factor – how they scan your message and deem it “SPAM”.

Here are some tips that will hopefully help your messages from getting junked before the recipient gets the chance to read it or junk it.

Your subject line is very important, but it is also the main cause of junked messages. When sending your emails, try to avoid using the following in your subject line (this also applies to your message):

  • Using too many exclamation points !!!!!!
  • Using “spam like phrases” such as “FREE!”, “Click here now!”, “Great Business Opportunity”, etc.
  • Creating an email that’s nothing but one big image, with little or no text (spam filters can’t read images. so they will assume you are a spammer trying to “trick” the filter)
  • Copying and pasting a flyer made in MS Word into the eflyer program (that HTML code is very sloppy… Spam filters do not like sloppy)
  • USING ALL CAPS IN YOUR EMAIL SUBJECT/MESSAGE
  • Try to refrain from using too many symbols like asterisk (**), dollar symbols ($$), etc.
Example: **GREAT OPPORTUNITY TO MAKE EXTRA $$$$!!!!**

New Template

This template features large images of the property. Images will pan and zoom using the Ken Burns effect.

See a live demo @ http://demo.listingproducer.com/

NOTE:

This template requires photos that are over 800×505 pixels in size. Pictures imported from the MLS may appear fuzzy. To fix this you will need to upload large images (800+ x 505+ pixels). Remember to de-select the optimize option.

Baynet Update: Successful System Maintenance!

Posted: April 26, 2010 by Miss Wendy in Announcements

Hello,

We thank you for your continued patronage.

Over the weekend, we had a scheduled system maintenance which went smoothly. The maintenance was needed to swap out our old servers with new ones. Our new servers are now running great and not “breaking a sweat”, where our old servers were struggling to keep up with demands.

This maintenance opens up many advantages to you:

•    Memory access speed is 3-6 times faster.
•    Processing speed doubled.
•    Disk storage is now RAID 10 instead of RAID 5 providing faster speed and additional fault tolerance.
•    Availability of improved replication capabilities will keep our data safer.

•    New features in SQL 2008 will enable us to develop new and faster geo-spatial software – which means future development can accelerate and add new interesting capabilities to map search.

To summarize it, what we upgraded was our database servers.

From: 3 generations old server hardware running Windows Server 2003 and SQL Server 2000

To: the most modern line of servers running Windows Server 2008 and SQL Server 2008

Thank you for your patience as we work to better our services.

Default Keywords!

Posted: April 2, 2010 by Miss Wendy in Announcements

For all eAgents accounts that had blank “Title, Keywords, and Description” sections, there are now default keywords added for you.

We want you to succeed, and we want potential clients to find your website easily through search engines. We understand that certain features may be “foreign” to some of our users, and may be a little intimidating to tackle. But we hope that providing some content for you will help you through the learning process.

Feel free to modify the keywords! There is no messing up on this section. If you want a word removed, go ahead and use your “backspace” key to your hearts content. Need a word added? Type away! Just make sure to separate your words with commas. The words you enter in do not have to be in any particular order. Enter the words that come into mind.

For those of you that entered your own keywords: don’t worry! They are all still there.

In case you would like to learn how to add keywords, or modify the default ones, here is a step by step!

Site Keywords & Description (Search Engine Optimization)

1

The information typed in this section, will show up on search engines like this:
googlescreen

  1. Title – The title of your website.
  2. Keywords – Including “keywords” on the main page can help your site be found more easily. A “keyword” is any term or phrase that a person types into a search engine to find what they are looking for. Simply put, Search Engine Optimization (or SEO) is achieved by adding key words and phrases to your site so that search engine “spiders” (or programs) find and catalog them for future use.
  3. Description – Briefly describe your website, and highlight its contents.

To begin…

  1. Start by clicking the “My Website” tab
  2. Hover over “Site Settings”
  3. Click on “Keywords and Description”
  4. Enter your site title, keywords, and description.
  5. Don’t forget to click SAVE!
